CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Requirements for Completion of the
Global Studies Certificate Program

These requirements will help students to develop the skills and character needed for global citizenship by guiding them to:

Empathize - Lead - Understand - Serve - Explore

Academic Requirements

Successful completion of the following courses:

  • World History
     

  • Environmental Science
     

  • World Language, level 3 or higher
     

  • 2 relevant elective courses, such as:

    • World Literature

    • Global Topics

    • World Religions

    • Ethics

    • A pre-approved course of the student’s choice.

 

         (Available electives vary each year)

Exploration of globally-focused topics on the following assignments each year:

  • Academic Fair
     

  • Two AR / IR books
     

  • Two projects within courses not listed as required

Extracurricular Requirements

Students must earn a total of 300 points across the following three categories, with a minimum of 50 points per category. A maximum of half of the points in each category can be earned through Camelot-sponsored activities.

Community

 Service

Earn at least 50 points  from the following components

Community Service Hours
Culturally Immersive Service
Contact with people from your community, country, or the world whose experience and worldview may be different from your own.
Relationship Building
Interactive contact with new people in order to work with them.
Problem-solving
Leadership

Cultural

Exposure

Earn at least 50 points  from the following components

International Trip
Homestay
Language Immersion
Cultural Experiences
such as a dance class, new foods, etc.
Cultural Landmarks
such as museums, monuments, etc.
Taking Risks
Trying something new. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.
Relevant Academic Classes

Leadership

Earn at least 50 points  from the following components

Targets UN Sustainable Development Goal(s)
Goal Produces Meaningful Impact
Community Engagement
Holding Leadership Position in a Recognized Organization
such as Scouts, National Honor Society, etc.
Work Effectively with Others
such as listening, delegating, supporting, identifying individual strengths, etc.
